Stabilization Shelter Support Worker
The Lighthouse Supported Living Inc., 2018–2019

Provided emergency shelter services to manageably intoxicated individuals, addressing health, housing, addiction and any issues that perpetuated or increased the risk of homelessness. Required knowledge and understanding of poverty, homelessness, oppression, addiction, and mental illness.

Editor-in-Chief
The Sheaf Publishing Society, 2017–2018

Employed and supervised a team of 11 student journalists, editors, artists, and media specialists, while compiling, creating, and editing content for a weekly news publication distributed to 24,000 students.

  • Oversaw and contributed to a full physical and digital redesign of the paper.

  • Supported social media and on campus outreach efforts, increasing monthly pick-up rates from 60 to 80 percent.

  • Mentored and worked with an extended team of over 100 university-aged volunteers.

News Editor
The Sheaf Publishing Society, 2016–2017

Sought out three to four news topics per week, conducted interviews, took part in media relations, wrote articles ranging from 700 to 1,800 words, edited articles, mentored and oversaw a team of volunteers, and worked alongside 11 other members of a publishing team.

Conducted research for an English professor at the U of S. Searched databases for relevant sources and then documented them in an extensive annotated bibliography using MLA guidelines. 


Volunteer Experience

Rapid Response List, Resource Movement, 2023–Present

Team member for a mutual-aid email list that provides time-sensitive financial support to social justice organizers and marginalized communities. Resource Movement is a community of young people with wealth/class privilege working toward wealth, land, and power redistribution.

The Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Committee of the Indexing Society of Canada, 2019–2023

Collaborates with other committee members to create resources related to our mission of helping the ISC/SCI fully reflect the diversity of Canadian society. Current projects include a webinar to provide diversity training and a bursary to support new indexers from minority populations.

Social Media Coordinator, Indexing Society of Canada, 2020–2022

Coordinates with ISC/SCI executive and communications person to post society updates and news on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Inspired Minds: All Nations Creative Writing Program, 2019

Facilitated creative writing sessions for men incarcerated at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre, providing participants with the opportunity to learn about, discuss, and explore in their own writing/storytelling the different genres of literature, including poetry, short stories, autobiography, oral tradition, songs, comics, etc.

Saskatoon Open Door Society, 2018–2019

Helped newcomers to Saskatoon learn about Canadian culture, navigate the city, practice the English language, and build friendships in weekly, two-hour visits in or outside of the newcomers’ family home.

-isms feminist/art zine, 2016–2017

Edited two issues, containing prose, poetry, and art, for -isms, a local feminist and art zine, printed on Treaty 6 Territory, that promoted positive feminisms, encouraged inclusivity, fostered discussion, and acknowledged the intersections of oppression. Provided advice and support for grant applications.

English Undergraduate Society, 2016–2017

Primary executive of the EUS, responsible for organizing events and meetings, working with fellow student executives, and providing a safe and welcoming space for students. Recorded and distributed minutes as vice-president secretary and administration from September 2015 to April 2016. 

University of Saskatchewan Undergraduate Research Journal, 2015–2016

Associate editor in humanities and fine arts that assessed undergraduate articles for publication in humanities and fine arts, found qualified academic peer reviewers, communicated with and provided guidance to article authors, and edited articles.

Monteverde Friends School, Costa Rica, 2012–2013

Worked as a teaching assistant (grades 3-4), on school donations database, and at the school library with upkeep and organization.

Friendly Water for the World, Kenya, 2012

Week-long project building and installing sustainable water filters for a local organization that supports knowledge sharing, community building, training, and peacemaking in south-western Kenya.

Canada World Youth: Youth Leaders in Action, 2011–2012

Full-time volunteer for six months at two non-profit organizations: a forest nursery in eastern Ukraine and Abbeyfield Port Alberni, an independent home for elderly patrons. Planned activities, events, and outreach for Canada World Youth as a public engagement assistant. Lived with two host families. 

Katimavik, 2009–2010

Full-time volunteer for nine months at non-profit organizations in Canada: Victorian Order of Nurses Adult Day Program in Collingwood, ON; Sheshatshiu Innu School (grades K-12) in Sheshatshiu, NL; and Winnipeg Harvest, a food bank distribution warehouse in Winnipeg, MB.
